AI-guided skill swaps, where neighbors teach and learn from each other, creating bonds that go beyond technology
In these exciting times when #AI is in full swing, and AI getting embedded into our lives. There are mixed responses from the community. I am excited to present a 3 part blog series on “ AI for a better world “ highlighting potential use cases that might become a reality very soon.
Here is Part 1 covering the first 3 use cases
1. AI-Guided Community Skill Swaps
Imagine you want to learn how to make authentic dosa, and your neighbor is an expert at it but has always wanted to learn how to play the tabla. AI could facilitate a learning exchange, matching people with complementary skills, and creating a skill-sharing community where everyone learns and grows.
Example: AI-Driven Local Skill Marketplace in an Indian Neighborhood AI can analyze local interests and talents, like matching someone who wants to learn coding with someone who knows traditional rangoli art. This creates a platform where skills like Indian classical dance, pottery, and yoga can be exchanged for skills like photography or gardening- all without monetary transactions. It fosters community bonding and cultural exchange.
2. AI-Assisted Sustainable Transport
In a city like Bangalore or Mumbai, where traffic congestion is a constant challenge, AI could track public transportation use, carpooling habits, and cycling patterns. It could then suggest eco-friendly alternatives like organizing bike-sharing systems, carpooling options, or electric vehicle charging hubs for residents, optimizing both time and resources.
Example: AI-Managed Local Rickshaw and Bike Sharing AI could track which residents use autos for short trips frequently and suggest forming a local e-rickshaw or e-bike sharing pool. It could coordinate optimal times for use, even suggesting group rides to reduce congestion and pollution. This promotes the use of sustainable transport options in Indian cities while reducing traffic.
3. AI-Powered Local Renewable Energy Sharing
As solar energy becomes more popular across India, AI could help manage surplus energy between homes. For instance, if your solar panels generate extra power in the summer, AI could automatically share that energy with a nearby home or business, optimizing electricity usage and reducing waste.
Example: AI-Guided Community Energy Grid in a Housing Society In a neighborhood where several homes have installed solar panels, AI could manage a community energy grid that tracks which households are producing excess power and redirect it to those with higher needs. It could also recommend ways to store energy for future use, ensuring every house has access to clean energy at the right time.
Thanks for reading so far, stay tuned for more use cases in the next part of this blog series.
I’d love to read your feedback on these use cases and/or any other use cases that you think #AI might enable in the future.
